Tapas
The word "Tapa" literally means "top or cap". It is a small portion of food that is usually served with a glass of beer or wine. Traditionally, tapas are free with your drink but most places today will only offer you a few olives or pieces of chorizo (spanish sausage) without charge. Some typical tapas are Chorizo, Tortilla Espanola, Patatas Bravas, Croquetas, and Empanada. Most single tapas dishes won't cost more than 2 euros.
Be aware of extra charges for eating outside on the terrace or patio, if you go to a tapas bar, restaurant or cafeteria. If you need to save your money, it is a good idea to ask first.
