Sight seeing in Madrid

Sight seeing in Madrid can be relatively easy if you know where you want to go. Basically there are two main arteries that run through the city. Madrid has Paseo de la Castellana, which runs north and south directly through the middle of the city, houses the majority of the large businesses, banks and office buildings. The north in Plaza de Castilla is marked by the two leaning towers of Madrids banks Caja Madrid.

Gran Via, which runs east and west borders the older part of the city, is within walking distance of some of the major places in Madrid such as the Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol and Paseo del Prado. The Gran Via houses have one of the largest cinemas and entertainment centres in the downtown area.

The best way to see the city is to take your time walking through the streets with an itinerary of the most important things you want to see. If you don't want to walk and prefer an easier overview of the city, the red double-decker tour bus "Madrid Vision" offers daily tours of the city.
